Kash: A lot of guys want to get their bench press strength up, and will need to in order to gain serious size. What are your recommendations for guys to increase their bench?

C-Money: For increasing strength in the bench, I like to have 2 bench days a week, one heavy day, low reps, 6 reps max. And a dynamic day 3-4 days later, focusing on speed and explosiveness. On the dynamic day, I do less volume and I don’t train to complete failure.

Kash: Sounds like you mix a bit of traditional powerlifting training with Anabolic Shotgun training.

C-Money: Absolutely.

Kash: What do you prefer – Dumbells or barbells and why?

C-Money: I don’t have a favorite, both have their place, I never stick to one for too long.

Kash: Tips on getting up your deadlifts?

C-Money: Deadlift are probably the HARDEST exercise physically. When your done a deadlift session you should be ready to catch some z’s. I think once you got the form down, intensity is the key to get your deadlift up.  If you go into your workout 70 percent, you might as well not even do deads, they take 110 percent effort to maximal gain.

Kash: One of our videos shows you doing Sumo style deadlifts. Who would you recommend these for?

C-Money: I would recommend them for someone who has short arms like myself. It allows me to start at a lower position and I feel my leg drive is incorporated more and the beginning of the movement.

Kash: So would a taller guy with longer legs get an advantage by doing Sumo style and starting lower to the ground?

C-Money: Maybe. The only way to know for sure is to try sumo and traditional style and see which one feels more comfortable and lets you move more weight.

Kash: (Try a search on Sumo style deadlifting technique to test it
out for yourself.)

Kash: Any tips on getting up your squats?

C-Money: Box squats, box squats and more box squats, eat, rest, and repeat.

Kash: (Try a search on how to do box squats.)


Kash: As part of your powerlifting training in the past you’ve done a lot of grip training. How can a guy go about doing this and how will it help him in the gym?

C-Money: I started doing a day just for grip work. I was so discouraged when I knew I could deadlift more weight, but my grip was holding me back. So I trained my grip like a madman, heavy static holds, I did lots of pinch grip work, heavy grippers, train my forearms like crazy.. I never used any straps.. Now I can hold my max deadlift for a lonnnnnnnnng time. No issues whatsoever.

Kash: So your grip strength is definitely related to how much you can deadlift?

C-Money: No doubt.

Kash: Who are your bodybuilding idols and role models?

C-Money: I’ve always been inspired by the Franco Columbo style bodybuilders. The powerlifter/bodybuilders. I think all that muscle is useless if you can’t back it up with insane strength!

Kash: Well you certainly live up to your ideals! Got any supplements that you swear by?

C-Money: MRP shakes, myoplex/metrx… those are the only supplements I take and believe are beneficial, protein powders in general.

Kash: I’m glad you brought that up. Some guys think that you need to take protein, creatine, nitric oxide, etc. etc. if you want the best gains. I agree that protein is all that you really need, especially if you’re on a tight budget.

C-Money: Whole foods are the best, and are cheaper too.

Kash: Right on. When putting on size, what kind of diet do you follow?

C-Money: I still follow a keto style diet for putting on mass, low carbs with high protein and fats. I’m a very carb sensitive person.

Kash: Yeah, depending on what body type you are, EXCESS carbs may be easily stored as body fat. Usually not the case with hardgainers though.

C-Money: Hardgainers often have super-fast metabolisms and can tolerate more carbs.

Kash: Any plans to compete in bodybuilding or powerlifting any time soon? We both know you’re still an amateur, but some guys already think you’re a professional!

C-Money: If I was to do one it would be a powerlifting competition. Not this year but next year is a possibility.

Kash: Favourite bodypart to train?

C-Money: I love training my deadlift, but my favorite bodypart is my shoulders… The pump I can generate is crazy, almost hurts. My shoulders have always grew like weeds and are my best attribute.

Kash: Most effective piece of muscle building advice that you would give to everyone would be…?

C-Money: Use big compounds movements, isolation stuff has it purpose but not for building thick size. For building major mass and size, deadlifts/squats variations and heavy pressing is a must. Also don’t be affraid to gain a little excess body fat, its the nature of the beast. Its not an excuse to get fat though! So make sure you’re taking in clean calories, and lots of ‘em!
